NBA: 5 Teams That Should Pick Up Josh Smith

3. Houston Rockets

Perhaps the most intriguing team that could make a play for Josh Smith is the Houston Rockets. Dwight Howard and Smith are very close, and the Rockets could use one more piece if they want to make a serious run at a championship this season. They already have James Harden, Trevor Ariza, and Howard, but adding a fourth big piece could be exactly what they need.

If he is willing to take a back seat to Harden and Howard then the Rockets should do whatever they can to make this deal happen. They have some money to spend, and this would be a wise way of spending it. Houston is going to get involved in the race to sign Smith once he clears waivers, but it will all depend on whether or not he likes the role that is being offered to him.
