Nikola Mirotic improving with each outing

With regards to the Bulls rookie class, most of the talk coming into the season was about Doug McDermott. And although McDermott did have one of the most successful collegiate careers in recent memory, he has yet to find his niche in the rotation, and he is currently sidelined with a knee injury that could force him to miss up to eight weeks.

Although Mirotic struggled early in the season like McDermott, he is slowly making a name for himself in the rotation. In fact, Mirotic closed out the month of November scoring in double figures in five of the final seven games. Along with that, Mirotic has played well in his last two outings.

In the win against the New York Knicks on Dec. 18, Mirotic scored 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting, including 2-for-4 from distance. And against the Grizzlies, he scored a season-high 27 points, connecting on seven of his 10 shot attempts from the floor, including a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range.

Not only is Mirotic proving to be a capable substitute during Taj Gibson’s absence, he is also building a case for Tom Thibodeau to possibly use him at the small forward slot when Gibson does return to the lineup.
