Phoenix Suns trade Isaiah Thomas and Miles Plumlee to Milwaukee Bucks for Larry Sanders

I’ll admit it — although Thomas is a helluva spark off the bench, I just don’t think he’s going to be a key cog in the Suns playoff plans. He’s too small to compete on the defensive end and his style hasn’t meshed well with Goran Dragic (he’s been better with Eric Bledsoe).

Sanders isn’t far removed from being one of the most intimidating centers in the league. It was only two years ago that Sanders averaged 9.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 27.3 minutes per game. After Sanders got hurt in 2013-14, he fell out of favor.

This season, he’s back to playing well — though he’s been quite foul prone — as he’s averaging 12.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 2.6 blocks per-36 minutes. In addition to those numbers, he’s the kind of player who makes offenses think twice about going to the basket. The Suns don’t have that, but with this trade they could.
