Phoenix Suns trade Miles Plumlee and Gerald Green to Memphis Grizzlies for Kosta Koufos and Quincy Pondexter

The Grizzlies are still looking for bench scoring and the Suns need better defensive rebounding and guys who can spread the floor so Isaiah Thomas can maneuver. This trade fixes both team’s issues, though I’m guessing most Suns fans will hate this one.

Hear me out — while Pondexter doesn’t have the raw numbers (or the exciting ability) of Green, he’s more playoff tested and has performed well in those spots. In 2012-13, he shot 45.3 percent from the 3-point line in 15 games. He’s having a terrible season and has fallen out of favor — and he needs a fresh start.

Koufos has also played limited minutes, but he’s been effective while out there. He’s shooting 50.7 percent from the field and per-36 minutes, he’s averaging 10 rebounds and a team-high 2.4 blocks per game. As we know, those numbers don’t always translate when the minutes rise, but the 7-footer would provide some much needed bulk in the middle.
