It feels like it’s been so long since Terrence Jones last played for the Houston Rockets. Indeed, Jones has only played in four games this year and he has been sorely missed. Even though the Rockets have been able to find success without him, his absence follows the disturbing trend that the Rockets are going through right now. The trend of everybody being injured at the same time. I wish I were kidding when I wrote that, but I’m not. In fact, it’s been a long time since the Houston Rockets have been healthy as a team.

I know the title of this article can be applied to about half of the team right now, especially a guy like Dwight Howard, however, I do believe Jones needs to be the one to come back strong when he does come back. Without Jones or Howard, the Rockets are forced to play Donatas Motiejunas more minutes than we would like.

And while he has been a completely solid piece of the puzzle, he is definitely not as productive as Jones at the power forward position. It’s a lot harder to find a quality big man than a quality guard and Jones is definitely a quality big.

It’s a shame Jones went down when he did; this is a young, promising player who is just finding his stride in the NBA’s frantic style of play. He has shown a tremendous amount of potential during his first few seasons and he has developed nicely as he has upped his statistically out put on a yearly basis. He’s not the player that is missed the most, but he is a player with massive upside and high energy and the Rockets could definitely use a player like him right now.

Obviously, getting Dwight Howard back first would have a much bigger impact on the team. With that said, the Rockets have gotten off to such a great start that someone like Howard can afford to take a few more games to rest up properly. Theoretically, the same is true for Terrence Jones. However, I would definitely like it if Jones could come back as soon as he can so he can get the ball without Howard clogging up the middle. I feel as if playing as the team’s main target man on the low block could do wonders for Jones’ and his development as a big man.

With the Rockets dropping like flies, now would be the best time to get the promising power forward back from injury to help develop his skills. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much news about Terrence Jones other than the fact that it seems to be a nerve issue. As fans of Steve Nash can attest to, nerve injuries are not something to play around with.

Even though I would absolutely love it if Jones could come back right now, it’s important that the medical staff and Jones work on his injuries until he is 100 percent fit to play. There’s no use in rushing him back if he hurts himself as a result.

Terrence Jones and his highly energetic play is sorely missed right now. He really can’t come back fast enough. However, it’s always better to make sure that the players health comes before the team. Get well soon, Houston. We’re going to need it.
