Memphis Grizzlies: Best Game By Each Bench Player
Kosta Koufos
Game: Nov. 11 Memphis vs. Los Angeles Lakers 107-102
Stats: 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block
Kosta Koufos is not having a notable season offensively, he is only averaging 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, but he is playing solid defense. That is all the Grizzlies need Koufos to do. Protect the rim and give Marc Gasol a few minutes of rest each night.
Then there are some nights where he goes above and beyond those minimum requirements. On Nov. 11, Kosta Koufos and his bald spot, exploded to lead Memphis to a surprisingly close win over the Lakers.
Koufos hit all five shots he took that night to score 14 points. He also grabbed three rebounds and blocked a shot. All his points were scored in the paint, including two on a Marc Gasol full-court pass that Koufos caught between two defenders before gathering himself for the dunk. For that split second, he channeled Randy Moss in his prime.
Koufos may not be anything special, but on this night he was an integral part of a Grizzlies victory.
