Memphis Grizzlies: Best Game By Each Bench Player
Beno Udrih
Game: Nov. 11, Memphis @ Los Angeles Lakers 107-102
Stats: 16 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal
When old school broadcasters describe a player as a “whirling dervish,” they are probably describing Beno Udrih. Beno zips up and down the court, in and out of the lane until something good happens. In that Nov. 11 game against the Lakers many good things happened for Udrih.
He scored 16 points, and added three assists that night in only 18 minutes. Most of his points came from his dribble penetration on either drives to the rim or pull-up jumpers. He did not make a single shot from outside, but still controlled the game whenever he was on the floor.
Beno is having a solid season; he averages 7.4 points and 3.1 assists per game and shoots 52.9 percent. The 32-year-old native of the former Yugoslavia has become an important part of this rotation and seems to be quite the fan favorite. Memphis is happy to have Beno, especially when he plays like he did against the Lakers.
