A look back Wednesday night’s NBA action from a fantasy basketball perspective.

Kind of Star of the Night: Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins

  • There was a bunch of good, but not great lines Wednesday night so we’re going to give some love to rookie Andrew Wiggins here.  Give it up for the 19-year-old picking up his first career double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Wiggins added in four assists and steals along with shooting 9-for-16 from the field. Only negative was the 5-for-10 from the free throw line. He’s scored 20-plus in back-to-back games, also a career first. He’s still not where you want him, but hopefully this a start of a good trend.

I’m going to mention you even though I don’t want to: New York Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr.

  • My least favorite player on the Knicks second year guard Timmy has to be written about. I pretended someone took my hands and was forcing me to do this to make myself feel better. Carmelo Anthony is dealing with a knee injury that at some point is going to force him to miss a chunk of games. He sat out Wednesday night, but isn’t shutting it down completely yet. J.R. Smith missed Wednesday night’s game, Iman Shumpert got hurt during the game and the Knicks are also terrible. There’s an opportunity here for Hardaway even though he only played 29 minutes Wednesday night. He didn’t shy away from shooting, as expected, putting up 18 shots, but he actually made nine of them! Four of those makes were from behind the arc, too. That’s where Timmy’s value lies — points and threes. You can go ahead and just pretend the rest of the stat sheet doesn’t exist. The 23 points he put up last night was his second-highest total of the season.

Monitor because he’s back from injury: Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

  • I snagged him up quick in a 12-team league that I needed some boards in once I heard MKG was going to play Wednesday. It was a stealthy, but successful return to the lineup. Kidd-Gilchrist only played 19 minutes, but scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting, was 3-of-3 from the line and grabbed six rebounds. He missed his only attempt from mid range and all three of his baskets came at the rim. In an extremely small sample size MKG has made 8-of-14 shots between eight and 24 feet this season. If he can expand that and get more volume with a little bit of a drop in efficiency it could help boost up his points.

He went boom: Indiana Pacers guard C.J. Miles

  • Well there you are, C.J. Miles. That’s why the Pacers paid you as a free agent this past summer. Miles exploded for 30 points and seven three pointers in Indiana’s loss to the Clippers Wednesday night. Miles has now posted double figures in three of the Pacers five games this month and is making 2.6 threes per game. If you need threes, snatch him up; in 19 and 21 minutes per game the past two seasons he’s made mire than a three a game. Miles will have a higher volume of minutes now that he is fully healthy.
