19. Julius Erving, Virginia Squires

Okay, so this is cheating a little bit, but it’s one of my favorite signings in the basketball history.

The Virginia Squires were the ABA team, who signed Julius Erving out of high school and jump-started his career in the pros. In his first two seasons, Erving averaged 25.2 points and 12.1 rebounds. He was phenomenal!

Obviously, Erving would have signed elsewhere had the Squires not given him an opportunity, but it might have altered the course of NBA history forever.
