Stephen Curry hurt his ankle again, but it appears the injury is relatively minor

The Golden State Warriors can’t fathom another Stephen Curry injury. After battling ankle issues that made many consider whether he was going to be durable enough to be a star in the NBA, Curry has missed just four games over the last two seasons. That’s why his recent ankle injury is such cause for concern.

Luckily, it appears that Curry’s injury is minor. According to Monte Poole of CSN, Curry could appear in the Warriors game on Tuesday:

"X-rays taken after the game were negative, according to the Warriors. The team believes Curry will be OK for the next game, Tuesday night against the Magic at Oracle Arena."

Both the franchise and the fan base can breathe a sigh of relief, as the Warriors have had enough injury issues already and are still riding high at 14-2. Curry has been as good as ever, averaging 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game — in just 32.4 minutes. He’s posting a career high in field goal percentage (.496) and he’s at an elite .418 from the 3-point line and .923 from the free-throw stripe.

Losing Curry would be a disaster for the Warriors, who for the first time in many years have legitimate reason to believe they can win the NBA championship. Under rookie head coach Steve Kerr, the Warriors boast the No. 1 defense (in terms of defensive rating) and the No. 3 scoring offense (107.1) in the NBA.

Once the Warriors get David Lee back, they’ll not only have one of the best starting lineups in the league, but they’ll also have one of the deepest benches. Curry is the lynchpin that holds everything together. Luckily, this ankle injury is just a scare and the Warriors can expect to have him back Tuesday night.
