After Saturday’s 105-78 drubbing against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the New York Knicks will be left pondering how the hell they could have stopped Russell Westbrook and how they will reverse course on their lost season. With the loss, they now sit at a dreadful 4-12 in the inferior Eastern Conference with no rallying plan in sight.
Carmelo Anthony is injured, Jose Calderon can’t play defense and the Knicks are an running offense suited more for the days of Bob Cousy and Bill Russell rather than today’s NBA. Sadly, the best thing the Knick’s brand has going for them is the arena in which they play in and their dynamic broadcasting team.
I attempted to formulate an opinion on how improvements can made that will lead to future victories, but was unsuccessful. Instead, I decided to brainstorm things I would rather do than watch the Knicks play basketball right now.
Please, come with me on this journey, it’s going to be a crazy ride.
1. Listen to Mike Breen grill Walt Frazier about his swingin’ days during the 70’s for an entire broadcast.
Don’t be fooled by his on-air charm, Clyde was known to be quite the ladies man during his NBA tenure. He was often pictured while wearing fur coats or eccentric hats, a true sign of a man that is familiar with the nightlife.

I bet there are plenty of stories in that head of his that would be far more interesting than what is transpiring on the court of a Knicks game right now. Breen is the perfect guy to interview Frazier for this segment given his epic belches of excitement whenever something big happens.
2. Watch a reality television show centered around the lives of Melo and his wife, LaLa.
I envision something that is Kardashian-style with a little hint of the show that Eric Decker and his wife do. Stop laughing at the fact that I know both those shows are in existence. The show would of course take place in Los Angeles, the city named after LaLa.
3. Watch a UFC style fight featuring Pablo Prigioni and Jose Calderon.
Perhaps this should be the halftime show during every game. Maybe they should just do this instead of play the games.
Initially, you would have to think that Prigioni would be the favorite in this matchup. He plays with a friskier style and despite his older age, looks to be in the best shape of the two players. Both stand at a not-so-menacing 6’3″, so that’s a draw. However, Calderon has the weight advantage by a solid 15 pounds surprisingly.
Despite the disparity in weight, I would still have to take Prigioni in this spot. The man just looks like he would be savvy in the octagon. Calderon doesn’t have that “it” factor that you would look for in a fighter.
The “it” factor always plays a big role whenever I assess hypothetical UFC matches between professional athletes. Sorry, Jose, maybe next time, bud.
4. Watch the Jets play.
Hahaha, I’m just kidding. Cheer up Knicks fans, at least you aren’t that helpless …
Yet.
