18. Chris Webber

I loved Chris Webber’s game, and combined with Vlade Divac, Peja Stojakovic, and Jason Williams, he turned a moribund franchise in Sacramento into one of the most exciting teams in the history of the NBA.

However, after his initial run of success with Sacramento, in July 2001, he would sign a seven-year, $127 million contract that would cripple basketball in Sacramento for nearly a decade.

After initially playing up to that ridiculous contract, Webber had a career-altering knee injury that would eventually require the dreaded microfracture procedure.

This destroyed Webber’s athleticism, and with most of his game. He would never be the same, and would eventually be salary dumped to Philadelphia where he quietly finished out what had once been a potential Hall of Fame career.
