19. Eddy Curry

After a good 2004-05 season with the Chicago Bulls, averaging 16 points and five rebounds per game, the Knicks decided that this behemoth of a man who had often clashed spectacularly with then Bulls coach Scott Skiles, was worth a six-year offer that would pay out $60 million.

This despite the Knicks also pursuing a very similar kind of player in Zach Randolph, who had yet to really blossom into the player he has become in Memphis.

Neither Randolph nor Curry were of much use on defense, and neither was much of a jump shooter. Curry also allegedly showed up to his new team woefully out of shape, and contributed to a team full of “me first” players.

While Curry put up a decent statistical season that first year, that was his last hurrah in the NBA, as injuries and ineffectiveness limited him to playing in only 85 games the rest of his career.
