10. Elton Brand

Elton Brand entered the NBA as a first round pick of the post-Michael Jordan Bulls, and immediately made an impact. Brand averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds as a rookie, and was co-Rookie of the Year with Steve Francis of Houston.

Brand would later be inexplicably traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, where during his time with the team, he would lead them to their first playoff series victory since 1976, and get legitimate MVP consideration. After a long, successful run with the Clippers, Brand would suffer an Achilles’ injury.

Still, the Clippers were hoping to bring Brand back after he opted out of the final year of his contract. Yet, even after Los Angeles signed Baron Davis, Brand turned his back on the franchise and signed a five-year, $79.795 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

His years with the 76ers were a disaster, as he missed almost the entire first season recovering from both his Achilles’ surgery and a dislocated shoulder he would suffer in December.

Brand was never the same, and would eventually be released via the amnesty clause.
