11. Vince Carter
Hard to imagine a one-time superstar player like Vince, “half-man, half-amazing,” Carter, also known as “Vinsanity,” who was the face of not just the Toronto Raptors, but the entire NBA at one point, would appear on this list.
However, after admittedly playing at less than full speed during his last year in Toronto, Carter would be traded from the Raptors to the New Jersey Nets, where he would help the team continue its streak of playoff appearances.
Still, his skills had peaked, and Carter was definitely not playing with the same intensity he showcased early in his career.
Despite this, the Nets signed him to a huge four-year, $61.8 million extension in July 2007. This seemed like a bad move at the time, and only got worse as the season unfolded.
The Nets seemed to immediately regret their decision and would unload Carter’s contract in a trade with the Orlando Magic.
Carter would continue to play in the league, but he after leaving Toronto he would never approach the superstar status he once had.
