Philadelphia 76ers: Why We Should Continue To Watch

The NBA season is in full swing at this point and unless you have no idea how the game of basketball works or have been confined to a remote location with no access to NBA League Pass, you’re well aware by now that the Philadelphia 76ers are pretty terrible.

In fact, as they now sit one loss away from tying their franchise record for most losses without a win to start the season at 0-15, as well as now being more than halfway to accomplishing the very undesirable feat of breaking the NBA record for most consecutive losses with 27 straight.

Philadelphia is now 0-14. But as unbearable as it may be to continue to sit through loss after loss that Philly will surely continue to endure, there is reason to keep watching the lowly 76ers, especially for Philadelphia fans.

The primary reason should be pretty obvious with so many young, high-upside prospects filling out the current Sixers’ roster.

With guys like the rookies Nerlens Noel and K.J. McDaniels both starting to come into their own and build some individual momentum, being able to see two key pieces for the Sixers’ future grow and display some of their elite athleticism on monstrous dunks and emphatic blocks is always worth the attention of viewers.

Then of course, you’ve got guys like the reigning Rookie of the Year in Michael Carter-Williams and the a very explosive and electrifying Tony Wroten, who are both looking to continue in their development and establish themselves as key pieces going forward.

But the guys who get overlooked, which brings me to my next point, are the majority of the 76ers’ roster who aren’t guaranteed to see the next game and are out there competing on every possession throughout every game.

When you have guys on the court like Drew Gordon and Robert Covington out there seeing time for the Sixers – just to name a couple – you ultimately end up with a roster full of young guys who are not only playing to establish a career in the NBA, but competing on a nightly basis to do everything they can to chase down the highly-coveted first win.

When there’s a roster full of guys leaving it out of the hardwood every single night, it’s always enjoyable to watch, regardless of the definite lack of superior talent available.

And then, for some less obvious reasons, whether you’re a fan of the Sixers or not, you can’t help but be amazed at the amount of plays Philadelphia makes throughout each game that really make you wonder how they’re a professional basketball team, which is often followed by plays that give you glimpses of how great this team could be in the near future.

For the most part, it’s just basketball that keeps you on the edge of your seat with part of you eagerly waiting to see the next McDaniels rejection of a dunk, while another part of you is strongly considering just going outside and pondering on how a team that struggle in so many different ways.

Additionally, if you’re a fan of anybody except the Sixers, why not watch when Philadelphia plays your team. Everybody loves when their favorite team wins and if they’re playing the Sixers, it’s a near guarantee they walk away victorious.

Philadelphia isn’t going to be a team that you would want to put any money on anytime this season, but despite having such a horrid beginning to the 2014-15 campaign, there’s plenty of reasons to tune in and enjoy the winless Sixers. You really have no clue what could possibly unfold during those 48 minutes.
