Boston Celtics’ forward Jeff Green denies that he wants a trade, despite rumors indicating otherwise.

There have been quite a few rumors involving Jeff Green‘s name throughout the last few months, but he made it clear to the media that he is not looking for a trade away from the Boston Celtics. Obviously this is good news for Boston, as he has been a major part of their success throughout the season thus far.

Take a look at what Green said to ESPN about the trade rumors that have surrounded him.

"“Before you start, I just want to clear the air about some B.S. rumor that came out. I don’t know if the person who made this article is in this [group of reporters], but the rumor about me wanting to get traded is definitely false. I said that I was frustrated with losing, not frustrated with the team. So if the words didn’t come from my mouth, I’d appreciate if you do not write a dumb— article like that.”"

Obviously Green was not very happy with whoever gave out the rumor that he wanted out of Boston, and this type of response makes it seem like he really does want to stay with the Celtics. Here are his stats through the first 12 games of the season:

Needless to say he has done an excellent job of picking up the scoring load for the Celtics this season. His shooting percentages could use a little bit of help, but he has still been able to step up in a big way for them.

Boston is currently 4-8 on the season, but they are still confident that they can turn things around. Rajon Rondo has been playing at a ridiculous level, and the young talent that the Celtics have compiled is chipping in nicely as well. Green is without a doubt the best scorer on the roster, and they need him to continue scoring at the rate that he has been.

More from Hoops Habit

At 28 years of age, Green is playing in the prime of his career and has plenty of good basketball left in him. He hasn’t been a great defensive player throughout his career, and that is one area that the Celtics would love to see him step up a bit moving forward. His main role is scoring, and he has done that very well this season.

All of that being said, don’t expect to see him being traded away from the Celtics unless a great offer comes around. They would entertain a deal, but it wouldn’t be because Green is pressuring them to trade him.
