Minnesota Timberwolves’ shooting guard Kevin Martin indefinitely due to a wrist fracture.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are 3-7 on the season as they get underway with their new era without Kevin Love, and Kevin Martin has been their leading scorer so far this year. He has averaged 20.4 points per game on the year so far, but unfortunately he will not be on the court to help his team for the foreseeable future.

According to a press release from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Martin is out indefinitely after an MRI found a fracture in his wrist. Here is the press release that Minnesota sent out via email.

"An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) taken at Mayo Clinic Square on Kevin Martin’s right wrist revealed a fracture. He will be sidelined indefinitely. Further evaluation will be done over the next few days to determine the next course of action. The injury occurred at the 6:48 mark of the first quarter during Minnesota’s 115-99 win over New York on Wednesday, November 19.Through nine games this season Martin is averaging 20.4 points on 48.3 percent shooting from the floor and 48.1 percent from the three-point line."

Needless to say, this injury is going to hurt Minnesota in a big way. Martin has done an excellent job of playing consistently on the offensive end of the court and has kept his team in games and has helped lead them to their wins. Without him on the floor, the Timberwolves are going to have some difficult scoring the basketball.

More from Hoops Habit

Martin has been a very lethal scorer throughout his career, but he has bee having a major impact this season. He has shot 48.3 percent from the field overall and 48.1 percent from behind the three-point arc. Those numbers are very impressive and it helps show how valuable he has been.

Hopefully he is able to get healthy quickly and get back on the court to help lead his team. There is no timetable for his recovery at this point in time, and it is a very tough blow for the Timberwolves to take.
