8. Stephen F. Austin (1-1)

Despite suffering a tough loss to at home to Northern Iowa, the Lumberjacks are still one of the best mid-majors in the nation. The loss to UNI snapped SFA’s 34-game home winning streak. The Lumberjacks won 32 games last year and upset VCU in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Junior guard Thomas Walkup scored 20 points against UNI and leads the team with 16.5 points a game to go along with a team-high 7.0 caroms a contest. Junior Demetrious Ford and senior Jacob Parker are contributing 14.5 points apiece.

SFA defeated D-II Mississippi College 75-49 to open the season. Next up for the Lumberjacks is Xavier (2-0).
