6. UC Irvine (2-1)

UC Irvine lost their first game of the season on Wednesday night, falling to No. 2 Arizona 71-54. The Anteaters played well defensively but Arizona 25-8 over the last 7:53 of the game. UC Irvine held a lead for about 20 minutes in the game. The loss is the Anteaters 10th straight against a ranked team.

UC Irvine’s zone, which featured 7’6” sophomore Mamadou Ndiaye in the middle, held Arizona to 19-of-48 shooting from the floor (39.6 percent). The Anteaters also forced 14 Wildcat turnovers.

UC Irvine is ranked 35th in the nation in scoring defense, permitting 55.0 points a contest. Will Davis is the key man for the Anteaters on offense.

UC Irvine has victories over Chapman (87-36) and Pacific (68-50).
