1. Wichita State (2-0)

Wichita State, ranked No. 13 in the USA Today Poll , is the top mid-major program. Both of the Shockers victories are quality wins, and have come against New Mexico State (71-54) and Memphis (71-56 ) in South Dakota.

Junior guard Ron Baker has been fabulous this season and leads four Shocker players in double figures. Baker is averaging 18.5 points while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor. He is also averaging 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 turnover a game.

He tallied 21 points, had five rebounds and six assists against Memphis. Tekele Cotton (13.5 PPG), Darius Carter (10.5 PPG) and Fred Van Fleet (10.5 PPG, 5.5 SPG) are the other players in double-figures.

Wichita State is averaging 71.0 points a game while surrendering 55.0 points a contest. The Shockers also have limited their opponents to 40.4 percent from the floor.
