Every year during the NCAA tournament there is a team from the non-major conferences that makes a deep run and is deemed the Cinderella team.

So, who will be this year’s Cinderella team?

Every week I will examine each of the top-teams from all 22 mid-major conferences in my Top 10 Mid-Major Power Rankings.  These rankings will not include teams from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, American Athletic, Atlantic-10, Mountain West, SEC, Big East and West Coast Conference – so that prevents Gonzaga, BYU and Saint Mary’s from being considered.

I was also contemplating including the Mid-American and Conference USA in the high-major classification as they both are FBS conferences in football. But in all honesty I couldn’t, due to the fact there is not one team in either conference that is considered a “major” basketball program.
