It’s early in the 2014-15 NBA regular season, but it’s never too soon to begin evaluating the big picture. Thus, the surprising starts by some of the association’s breakout and comeback players grow in importance.

The question is, which are legitimate?

Some players are ex-stars or highly paid athletes who should be performing at this level, but have been written off by the general population.

Others are under-the-radar young guns in the midst of a breakout campaign. The risk clearly exists, but they’re players with upside that’s beginning to come to fruition.

These are the players who will maintain their current pace.
