In the world of professional basketball, there are few players as polarizing as point guard Jeremy Lin. Thus, joining the Los Angeles Lakers is a logical progression in Lin’s indescribable career.

So far, he’s been promising.

Lin has shown flashes of brilliance as both a scorer and facilitator. He’s improved his outside shot in every single season and is continuing that trend early in 2014-15.

Through eight games, Lin is averaging 12.8 points, 4.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game. He’s shooting 44.1 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from beyond the arc and 91.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Almost every one of those marks is consistent with his career numbers.

The difference in Los Angeles is that Kobe Bryant has Lin focused on becoming a better defender. With that will come more scoring opportunities on the other end and his evolution into an unquestioned starter.

For better or worse, Lin is the Lakers’ new franchise point guard.
