NBA: 5 Players Whose Slow Starts Are For Real
By Evan Massey
5. J.J. Redick, Los Angeles Clippers
Many may not take a brief look at J.J. Redick’s stats and see that he’s struggling in a big way, but his shooting numbers are extremely low and he simply hasn’t been what the Clippers need him to be. Los Angeles needs their shooters to be ready to knock down open threes at all times, and Redick simply hasn’t been able to do that off of Chris Paul‘s dishes or playing inside out.
Redick has averaged 9.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in four games so far. He has shot just 25.6 percent from the floor overall and 21.4 percent from behind the three-point arc. Needless to say, those numbers aren’t going to cut it and the Clippers need him to turn things around quickly.
Unfortunately, he just doesn’t look too comfortable in his role with the Clippers and turning things around might not end up happening. His three-point shot will improve, but he likely won’t end up being the scorer that the Clippers saw from him when he was healthy last year.
