The Dallas Mavericks will be in the Western Conference Finals

After that? It’s anyone’s guess. But this year may have played out better for the Mavs than most think. San Antonio is banged up, and will be for a good portion of the season especially without key guys like Patty Mills. The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without Kevin Durant for the first two months of the season, and if he re-aggravates that foot, he could be out longer.

I also think Dallas is better than Portland and slightly better than the Los Angeles Clippers. The two teams they’ll need to get through, as this season goes, will be San Antonio and the Golden State Warriors.

It comes down to home court advantage. For the Mavericks, it’s as vital as a fat kid wanting McDonald’s. Dallas needs home court. With the way the Western Conference is, the Mavs could be as low as sixth or as high as second. Dallas is being overlooked. That’s the way Rick Carlisle and his crew would prefer it.

It was the same way in 2011, and this team is leaps and bounds talented than the title team. Dallas will be in contention once again.
