Dirk Nowitzki will be an All-Star for the 13th time

This works out perfectly for Dirk, now that Kevin Love is in Cleveland. There’s a forward spot that’ll be open, and if Dirk can have as efficient a year as last year (50 percent shooting, 40 percent 3-pointers, 90 percent free throws), then he’ll be in the conversation again.

Now, of course, Dirk would need to do better than last year, recording a giant goose egg in the scoring column in New Orleans. But the immediate locks in the frontcourt will make it: that being LaMarcus Aldridge, Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard. Many believe DeMarcus Cousins will take that leap and get that last nod.

But if the Mavs are winning games like they’re expected to, Dirk will get the history treatment for being one of the best to ever play. Dallas was in and out of the playoff picture, and he got in last year.

Even something close to that will surely get him in again.
