Tyson Chandler will be the Defensive Player of the Year

Yes, I believe it to be so. Tyson Chandler will not only regain his fierce defensive ability he had during the championship year, but he will go a step further and do something he should’ve done in 2011; win the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

A lot of factors go into this. Joakim Noah won it last year, and rightfully so. On a team without Derrick Rose, somebody had to do something to get the Chicago Bulls to 48 wins.

But after a few years of playing uninspired basketball, Chandler is back in Dallas. He’s also going to get healthy thanks to this training staff. He was written off in 2011 for not staying healthy, and he proved everyone wrong.

It may take a lot for Chandler to get some love from the voters, but while the preseason may be a small sample size, he does look as good as he did in 2011. I like his explosiveness and his movement defensively. If he can play at least 70-75 games, he will win the DPOY, just narrowly edging the likes of LeBron James and Noah.
