The time for talk is over. The new-look Dallas Mavericks will finally take the court to start the new 2014-15 NBA season.

More from Hoops Habit

Well, I guess we can talk for a little bit more. We have to predict this upcoming season.

After eight ho-hum preseason games, these Mavericks finally take the court against the defending champion San Antonio Spurs to open the new year.

And although the Spurs will be without Kawhi Leonard, Tiago Splitter and Patrick Mills for this game, it’s still a big-time division game that the Mavs need to prove that they can take advantage of teams when they’re down.

Talk about a way to start the season. The first in a long journey of 82 games for a Dallas team that has high expectations this year.

But how far will they really go? I try to answer that, as well as some bold predictions for the 2014-15 Dallas Mavericks.
