Kevin Durant‘s four simple words set the NBA world on fire
If you’re Kevin Durant and you’re sitting home trolling Twitter while doing rehab, there’s one thing you probably shouldn’t say — anything that has to do with leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for his home area Washington Wizards.
But, if you’re Durant — this advice is much too late.
Durant responded to a tweet by Britt McHenry like this:
@BrittMcHenry just wait on it
— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) October 27, 2014
Now, I’m no Durant expert, but that absolutely looks like some sort of foreshadowing by Durant in talking about his version of “coming home,” like LeBron James did this offseason. Not long after, Alex Kennedy made a tweet that brought Durant’s words to light, which elicited a sharp, terse response:
@AlexKennedyNBA thats actually a lie. She didnt ask me about that, she asked me about shootin a commercial back in my hometown. Get it right
— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) October 27, 2014
While Durant is most likely not looking to leave Oklahoma City, he’s got to think more about what he’s putting out there on Twitter. Anything that closely resembles a potential career move is going to make NBA twitter explode — both with good and bad responses.
Just for fun though — could you imagine a scenario where the Wizards were able to insert Durant into their weakest starting position? They’d have John Wall, Bradley Beal, Durant, Nene and Marcin Gortat. That would win the Eastern Conference, regardless of where King James resides.
Just wait on it.
