50-40-90 Club

The 50-40-90 club is something that has its detractors, but signals elite shooting ability. It takes a special breed of player to be able to shoot at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 90 percent from the free throw line.

Steve Nash is the most tenured member.

Nash has entered the 50-40-90 club in four separate seasons. That doesn’t include 2006-07, when he shot .532/.455/.899, or 2012-13, when he posted a slash line of .497/.438/.922.

Other than Nash, only one player has ever gone 50-40-90 in more than one season: Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird.

Bird did it twice. Nash doubled him up.

Bird was a more focused scorer than Nash, but the feat the Canadian star didn’t get to this point easily. Nash attempted at least 11.5 field goals in all four seasons that he qualified.

If more people could do it, they would do it.

In the conversation of the most efficient shooters of all-time, Nash is a great player to start with.
