7. DeMarre Carroll

Preventing being type-casted as a one-way defensive player, DeMarre Carroll worked hard to become a shooting threat last season. He hit 36.2 percent of his 3 balls while tripling his attempts from 70 (2012-13 season) to 268. What’s most impressive is that while most players focus on improving one attribute while allowing one to fall by the waistline, Carroll remained the Hawks primary defensive weapon, making good use of the extra 16 minutes per game to come out with a career-high 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals.
