170. If there were an NBA version of the dictionary, Lance Stephenson’s face would be next to the word, “Polarizing.” He’s a phenomenal talent with youth on his side, but his erratic on-court behavior has rubbed some the wrong way.
If there’s one thing he’s done that can’t be criticized, it’s signing with the Hornets.

Stephenson led the league in triple-doubles and led all shooting guards in rebounding in 2013-14. The former Indiana Pacers breakout star carried that success into the playoffs and, thus, earned himself a nice chunk of money.

In Charlotte, Stephenson will play for defensive expert Steve Clifford. Clifford thrives in developing big men, and while that may not seem like it matters for Stephenson, it does.

Stephenson, a 35.2 percent shooter from beyond the arc, will have the freedom to shoot as a floor-spacer. Along with Kemba Walker, a superior facilitator to George Hill, Stephenson will find it far easier to score in an offense with more direction and the absence of a star perimeter scorer.

Let the memes begin.
.
