Matt Bonner, San Antonio Spurs

Position: Power Forward

Age: 34

Experience: 10 Seasons

You can copy-and-paste almost every player on the San Antonio Spurs’ active roster to make this list. The one who offers the most intriguing coaching upside isn’t a star; it’s Matt Bonner.

Despite never being more than a complementary role player, Bonner has played eight of his 10 NBA seasons with the Spurs. In that time, he’s won two NBA championships and remained one of the most beloved players on the team.

Maintaining the measurement that Blake set for this article, Bonner could become the next great role player turned coach.

Bonner was once a storied college basketball player, making three All-SEC appearances under head coach Billy Donovan. He’s made it at the next level by using the same principles he learned with the Florida Gators to thrive in a complementary role in San Antonio.

As someone whose had a court-side seat and an on-court role on some of the best teams of our time, Bonner is a prime candidate to become a great head coach.
