Sacramento Kings: Guide To Training Camp Invitees
By Adam McGee
Trey Johnson
Having gone undrafted in 2007, it was 2009 before Jackson, Miss., native Trey Johnson finally got his shot in the NBA. Following his bow with the Cleveland Cavaliers at that time, Johnson has since had short-lived spells with multiple teams in the league. Between the Cavaliers, Raptors, Lakers and (at the time, New Orleans) Hornets, the 30-year-old has only played a total of 23 NBA games.
A shooting guard, Johnson has solid shooting fundamentals dating back to his time in college. In two years at Jackson State, Johnson averaged 25.4 points per game based primarily off some efficient play from the field, behind the three-point arc and the free throw line. With the Kings primarily relying on youth at shooting guard, a strong training camp could make Johnson a surprise package of preseason.
