Hasheem Thabeet

There’s no question that Hasheem Thabeet represents one of the more familiar names among the invitees, but has he got anything to offer the Detroit Pistons? Taken as the second overall pick back in 2009, Thabeet’s career hasn’t quite transpired in the way that many would have hoped or expected. With time spent between Memphis, Houston, Portland and Oklahoma City, as well as a couple of trips to the D-League, Thabeet has become a journeyman.

The startling defensive instincts that the native of Tanazania showed coming out of college have never really translated tin the NBA, and it hasn’t been for a lack of opportunity. As an example, the 27-year old has spent his last three seasons behind Kendrick Perkins, while the Thunder were desperate for alternatives. Thabeet’s skills are limited, but with only Andre Drummond and Aaron Gray down as recognized centers on the roster, he may have a chance.
