The Brooklyn Nets, then located in New Jersey, and Richard Jefferson were a match made in heaven but, throughout the course of their seven-year marriage, injuries derailed a promising career.
Throughout his tenure in New Jersey, Jefferson made memorable play after memorable play with highlight reel dunks, and clutch performances. The 13-year-veteran played in 489 regular season games with the Nets and averaged 18 points, five rebounds and one steal. Jefferson started nearly four, full seasons with the Nets, averaging nearly 20 points twice, but never made an All-Star team.

Vince Carterof course. In 2003-04, and 2005-06, Jefferson had win share averages of 11 and 11.7, respectively.
However, an injury to his wrist in 2004 and an ankle injury during the 2006-07 season derailed his career. In summer 2008, the Nets decided to trade Jefferson with two years remaining on a six-year, $78 million deal to Milwaukee, in what was an effort to shed salary. Jason Kidd was also traded during the prior All-Star break.
Since Jefferson’s departure, the Nets have struggled to fill the void at small forward. Here is a look at five players who have occupied the position in seasons past.
