Power Forward Puzzle

When former general manager Joe Dumars went out and made a splash with his spending last summer, it was supposed to be the beginning of a new look Detroit Pistons. In reality there was no cohesion to the team he constructed though, and they looked no different to the many below par Detroit teams of recent years. The biggest mistake he made was the signing of Josh Smith with Greg Monroe already in place though.

With neither player capable of consistently make shots of any length, the Pistons star-studded big lineup proved to be a floor-spacing nightmare. Now entering year two of the experiment, decisions have to be made. Can Van Gundy bring Josh Smith back to his best, or is he going to stick with Greg Monroe who can walk away from Detroit free next summer? It might just be the biggest decision for Van Gundy to make as Pistons coach.
