Franchise Player

This is a big tag to put on a young man’s shoulders, but in the case of Andre Drummond, there’s every reason to believe it’s true. By showing signs of becoming a dominant inside player, and in many ways already being just that, Andre Drummond looks like the guy the Pistons might choose to build their teams around for the next ten or so years.

When after his second season as a pro, a player is comfortably averaging a double-double, it’s generally a good indication of some special talent. Everything may all be falling into place at once too. The appointment of Van Gundy as coach could well lead to the team’s style of play on both ends of the floor being built around the center, like he did with Dwight Howard in Orlando. If that proves to be the case, it should suit Drummond down to the ground.
