Atlanta Hawks: Can Shelvin Mack Improve Again?
By Adam McGee
Efficiency
As I’ve already alluded to, Mack has shown himself to be a really good decision-maker in his time in the NBA, and that’s perhaps the most important facet of his game. It allows a coach to trust in his abilities, knowing that more often than not, Mack isn’t going to waste opportunities and possessions. Nowhere was this more evident than with the 24-year-old’s incredible assist to turnover ratio.
Mack had a remarkable assist to turnover ratio of 3.04 for the season. This placed him in the top 10 in the NBA for guys who played 15 minutes or more in more than 50 games, something which should be a real badge of honor for a young guard. With young guard Dennis Schröder’s frequent turnovers part of the reason Mack got his chance, if Mack can remain as reliable this year, he will only improve further.
