Stock Up: Jeremy Lin

While he was not the splash move that the fan base wanted this summer, it’s hard to put Jeremy Lin in a better situation.

Even with the recent report citing Steve Nash as the starter at point guard, it’s conceivable to see Lin collecting the majority of the minutes at the position. He also has a chance to be a key component of the Lakers offense, and play alongside Kobe Bryant. All in the city of Los Angeles, wearing the jersey of a storied franchise.

Not to mention he was freed from the Houston Rockets, a team that saw him nudged from starter to sixth man and back again. And after some recent comments by James Harden and move by the management team, it is worth wondering what the team situation was like there for Lin, and if being in a different situation will help his play, even if only a marginal amount.

There is a potential starting job on the table heading into the preseason, and even if Lin fails to grab that a heavy bench role awaits. If he can improve his defense and see the floor, as per coach Byron Scott, then Jeremy Lin’s stock will be soaring heading into the season.
