Phoenix Suns: Breaking Down Bogdan Bogdanovic’s FIBA Play
When the subject of the 2014-15 Phoenix Suns backcourt comes up, a couple of key phrases are usually thrown around. Deep. Crowded. How many guards is one NBA team allowed to have, exactly? We’ve heard them all. So for the good of the team and first round pick Bogdan Bogdanovic, it’s probably a good thing the Serbian shooting guard won’t be coming to the NBA for another year or two.
At 22 years old, Double Bogdan shouldn’t be in any rush to take his talents stateside. Though this 6’6″ prospect is a promising one, the Suns currently have a backcourt logjam, loaded with Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, Isaiah Thomas, Tyler Ennis, Gerald Green and Archie Goodwin. It’s a great problem to have, to be sure, but Bogdanovic might not be able to have an impact until the 2015-16 season.
That being said, none of this stopped curious Suns fans from tuning into the 2014 FIBA World Cup to watch Bogdanovic emerge as one of the best sixth men of the tournament. Nobody was expecting Serbia’s surprising run to the gold medal game (where they played the part of lamb to Team USA’s merciless slaughter), but what do Suns fans have to look forward to with Bogdan Bogdanovic? Let’s examine his FIBA play and — as is customary in September — speculate a little bit to pass the time.
