Rudy Gay

Like Cousins, Rudy Gay was an often overlooked Sacramento Kings player for Team USA. Unlike Cousins, we weren’t able to get a really good read on Gay’s importance to the team in limited minutes. Gay played his part a few times when foul trouble brought him into the game early, but his 6.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game don’t really give a clear image of what to expect from him in the upcoming 2014-15 season.

However, Kings fans shouldn’t be too concerned about Gay’s minimal role with USA Basketball this summer. The fact that he was asked to replace Paul George speaks volumes about his value, especially coming off a very impressive half-season debut in Sacramento last year. For Kings fans, the FIBA World Cup was really more about how Boogie would fare all along anyway.
