Dallas Mavericks: Stop With The Rajon Rondo Rumors
Free agency is done. Aren’t we supposed to stop with the Dallas Mavericks interested in Enter-Player-Here rumors?
Welp. You don’t have to look any further than a rumor that’s enticing, and has been for the last two years. Rajon Rondo is looking to get out of Boston and, like any other superstar player, the Mavs are interested.

Can we just stop? I mean, really. Can we? This is getting insane. Heads are bursting, children are running rampant in the streets and the cranky neighbor next door has his shotgun at the ready. These rumors are going to drive the world mad.
MAKE IT STOP.
Nevermind the fact that this is another Rondo-to-Dallas rumor. We’re going to hear about that until the cows come home. That’s not surprising, considering for how long Rondo’s name has been linked to Dallas.
What irks me is the fact that we’re even discussing this in mid-September.
Yes, we’re very well aware that Rajon Rondo wants out of Boston. He’s made that clear, and once he leaves, any trace of the Boston Celtics’ relevancy will be long, long gone. But why is this even a thing during football season? Why is this a thing during the offseason in general?
Rondo won’t be traded before this season. Hell, he may not even be traded during the season, unless Boston gets an offer that will shake the state of Massachusetts to its core. And besides, if Boston does get this earth-shattering offer and the future of the NBA is forever changed again, I’d like to extend a helpful hint to all who are on this Rondo trade beat …
THE DALLAS MAVERICKS WILL NOT MAKE A TRADE FOR RAJON RONDO DURING THE 2014-15 NBA SEASON. EVERYTHING YOU ARE HEARING ABOUT THE MAVS WANTING TO MAKE A TRADE FOR RAJON RONDO IS A MYTH. IT DOES NOT EXIST. JUST LIKE UNICORNS.
OK, I’m done ranting.
But seriously, folks. While unicorns may be real and I don’t know about it, I’m not one to get myself caught up in Mavs rumors. It was only this summer where I thought the Mavs had a puncher’s chance at Carmelo Anthony, and a last-ditch effort at LeBron James.
I was also there when the Mavs were close to getting Deron Williams and Dwight Howard. Trust me, friends. I’ve seen it all and I’ve drank the Kool-Aid many of times. One minute it tastes like fruit punch, the next it tastes like something that doesn’t deserve to touch mouths of children.
But it’s way too early to drink the Kool-Aid now. The Mavs don’t have the assets to make a trade for any superstar, which is why they always wait until free agency. And hey, think of it this way: Rondo is a free agent next summer. The Mavs will, for the 100th time, have ample cap room to spend.
You better believe that the first team at Rondo’s doorstep come July 1, 2015, will be the Dallas Mavericks. If they’re not the first, then they’ll be a close second.
But please. No more rumors, no more trade scenarios, no more anything. The Mavs’ roster is close to complete, and I would like to think of what’s going on with the current state of the Mavs then think of what may happen in months time.
So for those on the Rondo trade watch: Please keep Dallas out of any discussion. It won’t happen this year, and it won’t happen at the trade deadline. Either Rondo is a Celtic after February or he’s not, and he signs an extension with another team. Life goes on.
But for the love of all things humane in this world, stop with the Rondo-to-Dallas noise. For now.
