Boston Celtics: Rajon Rondo’s Greatest Hits
By James Holas
May 30, 2012, Celtics vs. Heat
Miami wins 115-111
Even though Boston lost, we’d be remiss to not include this dominating Rondo performance. Miami and Boston were two franchises on two distinctly different trajectories at the time, but Celtic Pride dictated that the Heat still had to go through Boston. LeBron was now flanked with real deal talent in Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and again, no one was banking on the Celtics derailing the James and the Heat. Rondo did his damnedest.
44 points. 8 rebounds. 10 assists. 3 steals.
Rondo was a demon, pushing the pace and splashing jumper after jumper and actually converting his free throws. It ratcheted up to surreal in overtime as he stepped into deep threes and drained contested pull ups. The game was a microcosm of the 2012 Celtics: ugly at times, drama-filled, hard fought, but ultimately Boston just didn’t have enough in the gas tank.
