Hustle

Everything positive Evans does on the court is a result of him willing himself to do so. He plays with a level of determination and energy that not many others in the NBA can come close to replicating, and although it may not always be pretty, it works. You can’t be as undersized as Evans is for his position and yet be grabbing rebounds ahead of guys much bigger than you, without having a special sort of desire.

That desire is the same thing that doesn’t allow Evans to simply watch a ball dribble out of play. The 34-year-old is fully prepared to put his body on the line for every play in a game, as if it could be a decisive one. Sure, it might mean that at times Evans expands more energy than a coach would ideally like, but it’s a much nicer problem having a player who cares too much, rather than too little.
