Entering the 2011 NBA Draft, the legend of Jimmer Fredette had grown leaps and bounds due to his break-out season at BYU. A season in which he lead the NCAA in scoring with 28.9 ppg on a robust 40 percent shooting from 3-point land.

He won over the heart of many fans because of his boyish charm, his seemingly innocent demeanor and his dagger 3s that would pierce opposing defenses. One fan even felt compelled to name a Youtube channel after him. May I cordially introduce you all to: thejimmershow:

Taking 3s well beyond the arc became Jimmer’s signature shot during that magical 2011 season at BYU. He single-handedly put the team on his back and lead them to a three seed and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament.

No small feat, even for such a small man.

The hype surrounding Jimmer was so loud that even the NBA general managers got drawn in. He was selected 10th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks before eventually being traded to the Sacramento Kings.

Some analysts cringed, others rejoiced, but one thing was certain, Jimmer Time had finally hit the NBA stage.

And then, Jimmer Time never really stayed on the NBA stage.

More from New Orleans Pelicans

After three disappointing seasons in Sacramento (never averaging more than 7.6 ppg), Jimmer found himself with the Chicago Bulls late last season and some fans holding onto “thejimmershow” past still believed that he could make an impact.

Sadly, for Jimmer fans across the nation (by nation, I mean Utah) it was just not meant to be. He only appeared for seven minutes per game on a Bulls team decimated by guard injuries (insert ceremonial head bow for Derrick Rose’s knees) and in desperate need of an offensive spark.

It appeared that Jimmer Time had officially died. And then miraculously, the Pelicans signed him to a one-year deal this offseason.

Who knows if Jimmer will find his NBA role in NOLA, but if anything, we will forever have thejimmershow Youtube channel.
