2.) He’s a great fit

The Hornets are one of the few teams left that feature a traditional low-post scorer, and because of this, floor spacing is essential. Al Jefferson needs room to operate in the paint, and even as the most skilled center in the league, double teams give him a lot of trouble.

With Josh McRoberts now donning a Miami Heat uniform, Steve Clifford will turn to either Cody Zeller or Marvin Williams–both downgrades as far as shooting goes–to start at the 4 spot. For a team that struggled with their spacing last year, this move could be catastrophic.

Jeff Green, on the other hand, is a fantastic shooter from deep. He only converted 34.4 percent of his shots from downtown last season, but that was often due to poor shot selection as a team’s featured scorer.

Two years ago, as a role player, he shot almost 39 percent. Especially in the left corner, Green is a marksman.

Starting him alongside Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Al Jefferson in the frontcourt would stretch the defense plenty.
