4.) Commitment to winning now

When Rich Cho signed Al Jefferson to the hefty $40.5 million deal last summer, he initated the team’s transition from rebuilding mode to win-now mode. Adding Stephenson only further solidified that notion.

Alas, as stated before, it wasn’t quite enough; the Hornets aren’t good enough to be considered contenders quite yet.

A playoff team like Charlotte needs one more piece to take that next step, and for the Hornets, that’s Jeff Green. Winning games and finishing with a high seed is nice, but in the end, it’s all about winning a championship.

The Hornets don’t want to end up like the Atlanta Hawks, who consistently make the playoffs but never actually contend. Charlotte fans who have suffered through the dark years of Bobcat-basketball deserve a season in which their team his a real shot at the title, and it’s Cho’s responsibility to deliver on that.
