The Dominican Republic broke open a close game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Kiwis 25-13 over the final 10 minutes to get their first win of group play.

Francisco Garcia of the Houston Rockets scored nine of his game-high 29 points in the fourth period to lead the Dominican run and also blocked two shots.

Jack Michael Martinez added 12 points for the Dominicans. Eulis Baez grabbed nine rebounds and scored eight points, James Feldeine handed out four assists and scored nine points and Eloy Vargas had two blocked shots and scored two points.

Garcia was 11-for-15 from the floor and canned 5-of-7 from 3-point range.

Thomas Abercrombie paced New Zealand (0-2) with 22 points. Kirk Penney added 16 points and five rebounds and Mika Vukona scored 11 points.

The Dominican Republic shot 47.8 percent (32-for-67) and was 8-for-21 (38.1 percent) from 3-point range. New Zealand was a frigid 34.4 percent (22-for-64) and hit just 7-of-32 (21.9 percent) from 3-point range.

The Dominicans also had a 43-34 rebounding advantage.
